Cummins took a hat-trick with wickets in the last two balls of the 18th over and the first ball of the 20th over against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup in Antigua today in the Super Eight. This is the first hat-trick in the Australian pacer’s international career. Cummins became the fourth Australian to take a hat-trick in T20 Internationals. Former Australian pacer Lee scored a hat-trick against Bangladesh in the 2007 T20 World Cup in Cape Town. It is the first hat-trick in the history of international T20. After 13 years, Australian left-arm spinner Ashton Agar scored a hat-trick against South Africa in the first T20 of the series in Johannesburg in 2020.

The following year, pacer Nathan Ellis scored a hat-trick in the third match of the T20 series against Bangladesh in Mirpur. Cummins was added to that list today. Cummins’ hat-trick is the 59th in T20 Internationals. But this edition also has the feat of taking 4 wickets in 4 balls. This feat is held by Rashid Khan, Lasith Malinga, Curtis Kampfer and Jason Holder. Cummins’ hat-trick is seventh in the T20 World Cup. Surprisingly, after Lee’s hat-trick in the 2007 World Cup, he did not see a hat-trick in the next five World Cups. The next six hat-tricks came in 2021, 2022 and this World Cup. Among them, three hat-tricks were seen in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
