The current state of the Israeli-Palestine war

Last Monday at midnight, the Israeli forces broke the ceasefire and carried out surprise airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. It is known that this attack was carried out after a discussion with US President Donald Trump. Initially 404 people were killed, most of them women and children. The toll had reached 950 as of Wednesday afternoon, and the death toll was rising.

The Israel Defense Forces claimed that several Hamas leaders were killed in the attack and that the operation targeted Hamas. They said such attacks will continue in the future and will not be limited to airstrikes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the army to step up operations in Gaza. At the same time, he blamed Hamas for not releasing the hostages.

The ongoing conflict since October 7, 2023 has killed nearly 50,000 people and injured millions in Gaza so far. Countless Palestinians have lost their homes and been displaced. On the other hand, 1,200 Israelis have been killed in the fighting and about 250 hostages are being held by Hamas.

Recently, the Israeli forces have started air strikes as well as ground operations. Palestinians are being forcibly evicted. “This is just the beginning,” Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu warned.
