India’s West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a meeting at Mayo Road in Kolkata on Wednesday. The meeting was held on the occasion of the foundation anniversary of TMCP, the student organization of Trinamool Congress. Naturally, the topic of the ongoing movement across the state came up in the speech against the rape and murder of a woman doctor. The Chief Minister of the state alleged that some media outlets are spreading misinformation by misinterpreting the speech given by Mamata. After that, he posted his statement on social media X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

In the post, Mamata claimed that she did not make any comments against the students and their protest in the rally. He expressed full support to the students’ movement, claiming it was fair.

Mamata Banerjee wrote in the post, “Hateful misinformation is being spread in various newspapers, electronic and digital media, citing my speech in a students’ rally yesterday. I want to say unequivocally that I have not uttered a single word against the students’ (medical) movement. I support their movement. Their movement is justified. I did not threaten them in any way, although some people are slandering me. Such allegations are completely false.

Mamata claims that she spoke against BJP. Because they are threatening democracy. They are trying to create chaos in West Bengal.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also wrote, ‘I have spoken against the BJP. Because, with the help of the Indian government, they are trying to create anarchy by threatening the democracy of our state. With the support of the centre, they are trying to create lawlessness. I raised my voice against them.’

In her speech at the rally yesterday, Mamata used two words ‘dropping’. He also explained that in the post given on X. He said, in his speech on August 28, he used these two words from the quotation of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Dev.

Mamata said, “This saint said, sometimes you have to raise your voice. When there is a crime and violation of the law, the voice of protest should be raised. From that point on, I quoted Ramakrishna directly in my speech.’

The topic of Bangladesh has also come up in Mamata’s post. He wrote, ‘Many people think that this (West Bengal) is Bangladesh. I love Bangladesh, they speak like us. Our culture is also similar. But it should be remembered that Bangladesh and India are two different countries. Modi Babu is using his party to set fire here (West Bengal). Remember, if Bengal is set on fire, Assam, Northeast India, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and even Delhi will be set on fire. We will shake your (Narendra Modi) mattress.’
