Authorities in the city-state have forced the Israeli embassy in Singapore to remove “insensitive” comments about Palestinians on social media. Singapore warned that the comments, made over the weekend, could inflame tensions.

The Minister of Home Affairs of Singapore gave this information yesterday on Monday.

According to local media reports, the post said Israel is mentioned 43 times in the Holy Quran. But the Holy Qur’an does not mention Palestine, which the Palestinians hope to have as an independent and sovereign state.

Singapore’s Home Affairs Minister said that after learning about the comments, he asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday to request the Israeli embassy to remove the post from social media. The embassy quickly removed it later.

Singapore’s Home Minister K Shanmugam said that after learning about the comment, he asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request the Israel Embassy to remove the post from social media last Sunday. The embassy quickly removed it later.

Shanmugam told reporters, “The post made by the Israeli embassy on social media is completely unacceptable. I was shocked when this matter was informed to me.

The Home Minister further said, ‘That comment is insensitive (insensitive towards Palestinians) and not appropriate. It is a threat to our security and the preservation of harmony in Singapore.”

K Shanmugam, who said the post had been taken down, said, “Such comments can create tension and put people of the Jewish community living here (in Singapore) at risk.” The anger caused by this can take an external form.

The statement of the Israeli embassy was not immediately known about this.

On October 7 last year, members of the Palestinian independence organization and Hamas, the ruling group of Gaza, launched an unprecedented attack on Israel. Since that day, the Israeli army has been carrying out a hellish operation in Gaza. Singapore condemned the attack by Hamas. But they also said that the military response that Israel is now showing is excessive.

The country’s embassy is believed to have made the comments on social media in the context of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. According to Israeli officials, as many as 1,160 people died in Israel in the October 7 attack by Hamas. In addition, Hamas has taken about 250 hostages.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health of Gaza says that 32 thousand 226 people have been killed in this valley until Sunday due to Israel’s aggression. Most of them are women and children. Although several hostages have already been released by Hamas, as many as 130 are believed to remain in Gaza.
