Israeli hostage who called for an end to attacks on Gaza killed

Elad Katzir, 47, called on the Israeli government to end the attacks in a video message from a Palestinian hostage situation in Gaza. His body was recovered on Saturday. Israel’s military claimed that Katzi’s body was recovered by Israeli soldiers during an operation in Gaza Khan Yunis tonight. On October 7, Hamas fighters took him hostage to Gaza from Kibbutz Nir Oz area in Israel.

The Israeli military said the body of Elad Katzir was taken from Gaza to Israel. After identification by doctors, the matter was informed to his family.

On October 7, the ruling group of Gaza, Hamas, launched an unprecedented attack in the southern part of Israel. Israel’s military says that Katzir’s father, Abraham, was killed in an attack by Hamas fighters. Katzir and his mother Hannah were then taken hostage to Gaza. Hamas freed Kitzir’s mother along with 104 other hostages during a six-day ceasefire last November.His sister Palti Katzir blames the Israeli government for Kitzir’s death. According to him, his brother would have returned home alive if the Israeli government had agreed to a new ceasefire agreement.

Palti Katzir wrote on social media Facebook, “Our (Israeli) leaders are cowards. They make decisions for political interests. Why is there no new ceasefire agreement in Gaza yet? Prime Minister, members of the wartime cabinet and the coalition government, you should go in front of the mirror and look at yourself and say whether your hands are stained with blood or not.

Hamas released a video footage of the hostages last January. In that video, Katzir is heard saying that he has come back from death’s door more than once. Through that video message, Katzir called on the government of Israel to stop the attack on Gaza. He said stop the attack on Gaza and return the hostages to their families.

According to the calculations given by Israel, about 1,200 people were killed in the attack by Hamas on October 7. In addition, 253 people were taken hostage by Hamas. Hamas has not yet released 129 of the hostages. Israel believes at least 34 of those still held hostage have died. Meanwhile, 33 thousand 137 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in the last six months by Israel’s indiscriminate attacks.
