The Meteorological Department has predicted a maximum wind speed of 60 km over 9 regions of the country. Along with this, there may be rain or thunder in these areas. This information has been given in the weather forecast for the country’s river ports till 6 pm on Sunday (April 7).
According to the notification signed by meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque of the Meteorological Department, a temporary gust of 45 to 60 km per hour from west or north-west over Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Sylhet areas. A chance of rain or thundershowers with gusty winds. The river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1.
Meanwhile, according to the latest notification of the Meteorological Department, the extension of western low pressure is located in the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal and adjoining areas. Seasonal normal low pressure is located over South Bay of Bengal.
During the next 24 hours from 9:00 am today (April 7), some places of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and one or two places of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions may experience rain or thundershowers with occasional gusty winds, and at some places Scattered hail may occur.
Day temperatures may drop by (2-3) degrees Celsius and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country.

From this April to next June, there may be 3-4 low pressures in the Bay of Bengal. One of these could become a cyclone. Also during this period the country may experience 6-8 days of light to moderate rains with scattered hail and 3-5 days of severe monsoon rains. This information is given in the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department for a period of three months (April-June, 2024).
It has been said that last March, there was normal (-08%) rainfall across the country. However, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions are more than normal; Chittagong, Rajshahi Khulna and Barisal divisions received less than normal rainfall and Sylhet division received normal rainfall.
In between, light to heavy rains were recorded in many parts of the country on 2-3, 14-16 and 18-31 March due to the association of western low pressure with easterly winds. Along with it, light/moderate monsoon storms with thunder and scattered hail. On the other hand, Sylhet received the highest rainfall of 89 mm last month on March 31. The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 37.2 degrees Celsius on the same day.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of normal rainfall in the country as a whole till next June. Besides, 3-4 low pressures may develop in the Bay of Bengal during this period, one of which may develop into a cyclone. However, day and night temperatures may be slightly higher than normal during this time.

Also, from this April to next June, there is a possibility of 6-8 days of light or moderate rain and 3-5 days of heavy rain or thunder with scattered hailstorms in the country. Also during this period 6-8 mild (36-37.9°C) or moderate (38-39.9°C) and 3-4 severe (40-41.9°C) to very severe ( >42°C) heat waves can flow.
According to the forecast, there may be 130-165 mm of rain in Dhaka throughout this April. Besides, 135-175 in Mymensingh, 130-165 in Chittagong, 265-340 in Sylhet, 75-95 in Rajshahi, 85-110 in Rangpur, 65-90 in Khulna and 120 to 150 mm in Barisal.
On the other hand, Dhaka may receive 275-305 mm rainfall in May. Besides, 360-400 in Mymensingh, 295-325 in Chittagong, 485-535 in Sylhet, 185-205 in Rajshahi, 250-275 in Rangpur, 165-185 in Khulna and 245 to 275 mm in Barisal.
In addition, the Meteorological Department has predicted 340-375 mm rainfall in Dhaka next June. In addition, the long-term forecast says that Mymensingh will receive 440-470, Chittagong 580-620, Sylhet 620-640, Rajshahi 290-320, Rangpur 410-440, Khulna 280-320 and Barisal 460 to 510 mm.
