A Russian military aircraft crashed in the sea off the occupied Crimean Peninsula on Thursday. The pro-Moscow governor of the city of Sevastopol in Crimea reported this information.In a post on the messaging app Telegram, Governor Mikhail Razvozayev said a military aircraft had crashed into the sea.However, the governor did not mention any reason why the plane crashed.In footage shared on social media, a plane can be seen falling from the sky. Flames were seen on the falling aircraft.Sevastopol is the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. It is located on the southern tip of Crimea. The Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014.

In February 2022, Russia began a full-scale “military operation” in Ukraine. The Russia-Ukraine war has been going on for more than two years. Crimea has been the target of repeated Ukrainian attacks during this period.

The governor of Sevastopol said the pilot ejected from the plane before it crashed into the sea. He was rescued about 200 meters from the shore. There is no danger for his life.
